The fashion world can be all about high glam and avant-garde designs, but there’s an equally interesting style opposite to that. Streetwear fashion has always been the antidote to mainstream style, so to speak, as it was at origin inspired by the youth and skate cultures.
Starting back in 1978, when legendary fashion photographer Bill Cunningham started photographing well-dressed onlookers on the street during fashion show weeks, the trend has continued to live on. But today’s streetwear fashion is a much more personal, fearless, and playful approach to self-expression.
While the style differs from country to country, from minimalist Copenhagen to the bold and sleek cool looks of the streets of Tokyo, streetwear fashion has evolved over the years to cater to a wide range of fashionistas looking to express their own style in a breath of fresh air.
This also means that more and more fashion brands have launched streetwear collections, and some have even dedicated many of their collections to this dynamic subculture. Take Balenciaga, for instance. Known for its futuristic and experimental code, the Spanish fashion label made a major turnaround over a decade ago and created many collections that combined luxury fashion with everyday urban style.
But that doesn’t mean that streetwear fashion is always random and unstructured. It still follows a few simple basic rules to make it easy for anyone to follow. From mixing and matching vintage and designer items to combining volume with prints (think boxy silhouettes and techwear), streetwear also embraces accessorizing on a maximum scale.
Whether it’s wild and eccentric pieces or classic accessories, you can always blend them together according to your personal style. And don’t forget about statement shoes, as we all know just how much the right pair of shoes can bring out the best in your streetwear style.
So, if you’re looking to expand the streetwear pieces in your wardrobe or are curious to know which fashion labels you can shop from next, here are five luxury brands you can keep an eye on.
Balenciaga
You can't have a streetwear fashion list without including Balenciaga. While the fashion house rose to fame for its haute couture designs, since 2015, under the creative direction of Demna Gvasalia, the Georgian designer has successfully transformed Balenciaga into a luxury brand that embraces streetwear staples.
He merged everyday casual staples with a high-luxury twist, designing hoodies, T-shirts, baseball caps, and even bringing back the 90s oversized dad shoes (such as the Balenciaga Triple S sneaker and the Speed Trainer) into streetwear must-haves.
But in 2026, things are slightly different. Under the new direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli (formerly Valentino's creative director), he reimagined Balenciaga's streetwear fashion and merged athletic comfort with haute couture to create a new kind of "street formal" collection.
As seen in their Fall 2026 Ready-to-Wear collection, models come down the runway donning luxury techwear with statement high heels or uniform hoodies with oversized neon trench coats. Piccioli even gave a softer spin to Balenciaga's most beloved Le City bag, which now comes in new slouchy silhouettes. The combination of sportswear and high fashion is definitely what makes Balenciaga an exciting and ever-evolving trend.
Off White
Founded in 2013, Off-White will always be remembered as one of the pioneering brands for streetwear fashion. Its late founder, Virgil Abloh, was known to cleverly combine youth culture, hip-hop, and skating aesthetics with premium Italian tailoring, and the result was nothing short of revolutionary at the time.
With his idea of creating a brand with social commentary through design, Abloh broke all fashion traditions with his hoodies, graphic T-shirts, and sneakers that were famous for using quotation marks, zip ties, and diagonal hazard stripes on luxury fashion runways.
The brand also collaborated with Nike and produced the legendary sneaker collection called The Ten, which saw the deconstruction of 10 classic Nike shoes into different designs using rearranged components designed by Abloh himself.
While the brand is now under different management, Off-White still maintains its streetwear DNA. Under Creative Director Ib Kamara, the brand showcases how daily wear can be upgraded with bold and edgy streetwear styles, from varsity jackets and denim to new sneakers collection.
Palm Angels
Another major fashion brand that combined high-end Italian tailoring with skate culture is none other than Palm Angels.
Founded in 2015 by Italian designer Francesco Ragazzi (who also served as Moncler's former art director), the brand was originally born as a photography project where Ragazzi documented LA's skating scene. But he quickly realised that there was a niche for combining luxury designs with the '70s West Coast skate culture and started producing a wide range of items, including relaxed tracksuits, oversized hoodies, and graphic tees.
His interesting approach to streetwear fashion got noticed by fans and celebrities alike, with big names like A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott, and Future becoming fans of the brand. And by late 2010s, Palm Angels was among one of the most recognisable luxury streetwear brands.
Not to mention that Palm Angels' approach to streetwear fashion is also playful. From featuring deconstructed teddy bear prints on its T-shirts and hoodies to offering vibrant-coloured outfits and its Gothic-style "Palm Angels" logo tracksuits, the Italian label's collection has always resonated with millions of fashion lovers who wanted a unique style of self-expression.
Fear of God
From designing looks for pop star Justin Bieber's Purpose World Tour to partnering with luxury brands like Zegna and Adidas, Fear of God has been dubbed one of the American fashion labels that has found global success in recent years, as reported by the South China Morning Post.
Founded in 2011 by Jerry Lorenzo Manuel, the streetwear brand is known to apply high-end tailoring techniques with premium materials, such as cashmere and Italian suede, and create streetwear pieces beyond basic graphic tees. Fear of God also focused more on minimalist silhouettes and quiet luxury aesthetics.
Inspired by '90s grunge (think Kurt Cobain) and California basketball culture, Fear of God offers a melange of elevated casual pieces, such as relaxed sweatpants, vintage jerseys, and a slew of signature looks like longline T-shirts paired with short-sleeve hoodies and flannels.
The brand also became more popular with its sister line, Essentials, which consists of affordable everyday streetwear items: oversized hoodies, crewnecks, and drawstring sweatpants in neutral tones, has also become a fan favourite.
Just like Off-White earlier, the label has also collaborated with Nike on a high-top sneaker called the Nike Air Fear of God 1 that was launched in 2018. The LA-based label also gained a strong celebrity following, including superstar Zendaya, who wore its custom grey suit to the premiere of her HBO series Euphoria in 2022.
But did you know the inspiration behind the brand's name is related to founder Jerry Lorenzo Manuel's Christian faith? "My faith is the foundation of all I do. It gave me transcendent values and tools that I'm able to use in clothing. I truly believe that God uses every part of your life and every experience to shape your future," he told the South China Morning Post in an interview.
Amiri
Another Los Angeles-based brand, Amiri, is definitely among fan favourites for streetwear fashion, thanks to its rebellious, counter-culture, and grunge-inspired looks.
From casual staples like heavily distressed stacked skinny jeans, thrasher jeans, flannels, bone-print sweats, and leather biker jackets, the label also offers celebrated DIY denim pieces that use hand-distressing, tearing, and repairing processes. Without a doubt, Amiri has come a long way since being founded in the basement of a Los Angeles Thai restaurant in 2014.
Founded by Iranian-American Mike Amiri, the fashion label has also designed many memorable sneakers, including the MA-1 Sneakers, which feature chunky shapes, thick padded tongues, and premium mixed materials. Its Bandana Print accessories, featured on crossbody bags and bucket hats, are also among the brand's most memorable streetwear items.
One might wonder what made Amiri stand out among the throng of streetwear brands. Focusing on rock-and-roll glamour blended with heavy distressed materials and bold graphics, Amiri caters to those who want flashier, rockstar-vibe pieces. With strategic planning and disciplined expansions, Amiri reportedly generated over US$300 million in annual sales last year and employed 300 people globally, as reported by Vogue.
